Hi,

Wondering if any one can help with a question about Enterprise NI tickets.
Going to be travelling from Sydenham station at Belfast City Airport and connecting onto an Enterprise service at Belfast Central down to Newry, staying in Northern Ireland

Does anyone know if you can purchase tickets for the Enterprise service at Sydenham or on the train - The connection time is tight at Belfast Central - These tickets can't be bought on line as it's not the full route of the service

Im lookinl at the 10.35 departure from Belfast Central

Thanks in advance!

I'm fairly certain that you cannot buy on the train, and Sydenham is unstaffed and doesn't have a ticket machine (unless one has been added recently?).

Pretty sure that it's been posted here that you can use any valid ticket on Enterprise services entirely in Northern Ireland - e.g. zonal tickets.

Yes you can buy on the train between Sydenham & Belfast Central, where you board the enterprise. NIR tickets are valid on the enterprise.

Single £12, Day return £18.50 off peak after 9.30am £12.30.

Other options:
1. Download "mlink" application from Apple/play store & buy above tickets shortly before you board

2. Purchase ilink card at translink.co.uk zone4 (all N.Ireland) This will cover your journey & unlimited train/bus in N.Ireland for one day. Web sites says allow 3 days for postage

3. If Sunday buy £9 unlimited train travel ticket for day, see NIR special offers on translink web site. Sunday day tracker

Just re-read my post - I had meant to say that you can't buy on board the Enterprise, but you can buy aboard the service to Belfast Central.

Hi there,
Sydneham definitely doesn't have a ticket machine. In fact there is remarkably little there apart from a small shelter on each platform.

If you're walking there from City Airport you can get from the terminal door to the platform in 9 minutes.
(Or a bit quicker if it's raining and late and you're about to miss you last train of the night home! :) )

Everything mentioned by bkhtele is right.
A really important point though is that the Guards on the trains can't take card payments - they can only take cash.

If you are going to do more than one trip a day then do look at getting a Zone 4 (All of NI) iLink card. Here's a Link They cost £17.50 for the day and provide unlimited travel on buses, coaches and trains.

An alternative may be that you could get the Goldline coach (Service 238) from Belfast to Newry. That's reasonably fast and goes every half hour weekdays. The iLink ticket covers this.

Enjoy your trip over here.
Cheers,
Mr Toad

The airport also runs a free minibus to the station. Just go to the information desk and ask for it.
