Irish Rail has issued a tender notice today for the repair of an Inter City DMU.
"Irish Rail operates a large fleet of new DMUs manufactured by Hyundai-Rotem of Korea. There are 234 vehicles delivered or on order. The fleet entered service in Dec 2007 onwards.The vehicles are 23m end door intercity DMUs. Bodies are all stainless steel with some areas of the headstock and bolster made from high carbon steel. Bogies are manufactured by Tokyu Car of Japan.6 car unit 22037 sustained serious damage to 3 x centre vehicles during a derailment incident on Wednesday 20th January. The set derailed in a split point incident leaving the main depot. The centre 3 x vehicles all derailed in different directions but remained upright and coupled.Irish rail require repairs to bogie and body damage to these vehicles".
