Ipswich to Liverpool Street stoppers

I have been researching fares between Ipswich and London, as part of my plans to make a monthly trip to the Big Smoke when I'm at university, money permitting, and it appears that the all-stations stopping trains run by Greater Anglia are far more expensive to travel on than the Norwich-London services which only stop at a few select stations. I'd have thought that it would be the other way around, the "express" being the more expensive to travel on. :-?

Only the "intercity" services have Advance quotas, meaning the only fares offered for the stoppers will be walk-up fares (which are valid on all trains).

Ah right then. It did seem a trifle odd that, by choosing certain trains and using a railcard, I could get to London for just £13 using the intercity services, whereas it would almost be three times the price if I used the slower commuter service.

GA stoppers do have advances e.g. Liverpool St to Clacton = £8

Some do, some don't. Clacton and Cambridge stoppers do; Colchester and Ipswich don't.
