The passenger should come first and if connections are compromised particularly for those not so speedy it should be looked into.
They're not. The platform staff are excellent at ensuring connections are held even for quite late-running down trains, with announcements and communication by radio to ensure that every passenger is directed to the correct platforms.

As being in the 'not so speedy' category, I can confirm that the situation at Ipswich is not a problem at all both with platform staff and by virtue of the position of the footbridge lifts. It's all good.

Nottingham, on the other hand ..... but that's another thread.
