Link doesn't work! Or is it just me?

There are two http:// in the OP's link. Remove one to get it to work

Fixed link

I didn't realise silly season ran into October. Then again hot weather means children or young women eating ice cream and comparisons to traditionally hotter destinations

Edit: Drat, too slow

From the story:

'The conductor had a supply of water, but it was not enough to top up the coolant reserve'

So just how much supply does a 'conductor' carry? :o

On a 153 you can take water from the toilet tank into the coolant system using a plunger next to the coolant filler.

Maybe this was the reserve they were talking about.

Only happened to me once in 12 years. toilet reserve was little use but water from a bottle & flask got us to our destination just 5 miles away. All other traction can limp home but once it happens on a 153 you're knackered. Only takes a split hose/leak.

I've only had to do it once. It's hard to reach the plunger from the ballast and it still wasn't enough to restart the engine. The Littleworth Signalman very kindly lent me a large water container but it was leaking out quicker than i could pour it in.
Fractured coolant pipe pipe right under the saloon floor and leaking through the carpet. Made a right mess of this poor lass's fondant fancies that she'd bought for tea!
