Invite to Southern assessment next Friday!!

So after feeling extremely deflated that I didn't receive an invite to the advertised assessments on the 13th & 15th and thinking I wouldn't hear anymore, imagine my feeling of elation on receiving an email yesterday with an invite to Knolly's house next Friday to sit the assessments!! The elation lasted for all of Twenty minutes and was very quickly replaced by nerves, nerves like I've never felt before!!

Can anyone who has just been through the Southern assessments offer some insider info please, specifically around the assessments themselves, exactly what ones you took so I can target my practice around those, the format of the day, anything at all that can help me to prepare would be really appreciated!

Has anyone else received an invite to attend next Friday?

Hi, after only getting a borderline pass with FGW in May I applied for this position and like yourself Iwillbeadriver, assumed after not hearing anything for the posted dates that would be that but yup I've also been invited to Knollys House next Friday.

Good luck for next Fri. It does make me wonder how many posts are up for grabs, does anyone know?. On my assessment day we started with 14 & only 4 were left at the end. One poor lad didn't even start it as he had the wrong I.d.

I was there on the same day as you I think, but sitting the my final LM assessments rather than the Southern ones. I did see quite a few worried faces when I was sitting in the little kitchen area waiting for my assessor to come and collect me.

They must expect a large quanity of candidates to fail any one the several assessments you have to sit, but it must also be down to cost. It's easier to screen a large group of candidates together than serveral smaller assessment days. I asked in my DM interview how many roles they were taking on for and they both didn't have an exact number.

If you cant follow simple instructions or what to bring your not going to make it as a driver.

There were 1800 when I applied for four positions but you need to think positively, don't worry about anyone else. I knew I was the best candidate in my eyes and went with that attitude. The other lads on my course were awesome and some have passed out already.

What sort of ID do they ask you to bring to an assessment??
My passport is out of date and birth certificate is not whats classed as the "full" one.....all I really have is drivers license

I thought you had to have a 6 month wait before you could sit the same assessments again? or is it ok if you get a borderline pass? I know you got that with FGW in may but can you retry to get a better pass mark, also if you get borderline is that a life gone? because I have 2nd stage coming up with FGW and if I got a borderline it would be good to know that I don't have to wait 6 months and can take them again with a different TOC. cheers and good luck

Borderline pass is still a pass therefore you shouldn't need to wait 6 months when applying to another TOC.

Not many TOC are taking border lines anymore so whilst its not a life gone the standards are getting higher hence the new tests coming in

It's not the standards it's all the practice material available and all the interview questions and answers posted on the internet that means more people are passing so if you gat a borderline pass most likely 5 years ago you would have got the job or at least got through to the next stage.
