Hi guys, yesterday i was told that I was shotlisted to attend an assesment in croydon next month. I booked the date and have been sent some materials to hlep me prepare. I was wondering if anybody on here has already attended an assessment and wether you would be able to give me any tips or advice on what to expect or to help me prepare better, any feedback would be hugely appreciated, many thanks.

I've also been invited for the assessment day in Croydon for my GTR Great Northern application. I booked the 15th June. How about you?

I'm already anxious to do these tests and can see that it is difficult to really prepare for some of them.

Download the GB tool from this site and print off copies, that's what I've done.

I'd like to know how many vacancies they are looking to fill for this.

If you have the ability the test are not too hard, most important thing is to fully understand each test. When I did mine a couple failed because they did it wrong, before each test starts you have the opportunity to confirm what is being asked by the assessor, make sure you do. Good luck, keep practicing and be positive on the day.

Very good advice, I was the only candidate to ask for clarification on every test that I was not totally sure what was required, I am 3 months into my training and I can assure you that the Railway love clarification ( the expression is , to come to a clear and concise understanding as to what is to happen ) So ask away ! Try and relax on the day . Good luck .

I've just passed my assessment with gtr thameslink, can't stress enough how important it is to be relaxed and clear minded, I booked a couple of days off before to de-stress. Prepare for it, read and do the practice materials! Make sure you understand what's required before hand. A couple of guys didn't pass because they didn't understand fully. As long as you understand each test, then if you've got the talent to pass you'll pass.

I am wondering what kind of questions are asked about the memory test, assuming it's about GLOP/ Sandite.
Were the questions of a short simple nature? i.e speeds, who does what? colours?

Can anyone shed light on the printed format of the GB test because if you print copies from the download tool the format is 25 across by 26 rows down, but I have also seen a format where the groups of dots are in a grid format in quite large seperate boxes.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just wanted to confirm the tea occ test

The first part is counting the low tones.

Second part is searching the directory

Third part is what I'm not fully sure on are you counting the amount of tones with a group ?

Pretty much right.

First you count the low tones only which are mixed with high tones.
Second task you search through a telephone directory looking for the same 4 pairs of symbols as they give you on a symbol card.
Third and final part is a mix of part 1&2 but you only have the low tones, no high tones to confuse you in part three.

That's it.
