Quick question. Is there any catering outlet like Pumpkin Café on a weekday in time to grab something before the 07:02 departure for Wick?

Many thanks in advance,
Phil

It looks like Scotrail has just opened a 'ToGo' kiosk in Inverness selling drinks and snacks. I don't know what time it is open though.

I believe this is part of their franchise agreement. Ten other kiosks at busy stations should also have been opened. Apparently refreshments are free if you are delayed or are travelling 1st class with Scotrail.

When I did the 0702 to Wick I went to Costa which is about a 2 minute walk from the station, and opens at 0645.

At queen st there appears to be a coffee stand operated by scotrail staff , been there since the start of the tunnel closure.

It's inside WHSmith, the coffee is quite nice and reasonably priced. This is open for the 0702 to Wick departing.

It's an Abellio concept, tried on Merseyrail first. But I'm not convinced it does either job well.

I don't know what they've done down there but what they've done here is basically put a counter and a coffee machine inside WHSmith stores or put up a stand-alone counter where there isn't one of them.

The coffee isn't quite as nice as Costa but I find it acceptable (I'm not fussy though!) and it's ~50p cheaper across the board. The cakes etc. are a bit grim though, I wouldn't bother with them.

Main problem being, they're overpriced, about £1.50[although they have 2 for £2 offers on] for a 500ml bottle of Coke in the Merseyrail ones, but overpriced on many other things so i don't bother buying stuff when i've looked at the prices, especially when there cheaper outlets nearby.
