You are not in a strong position to debate that with them...
Hi, just to say I wasn’t meaning I would argue that I need the railcard discount or be in a position to argue.

More so that I am questioning am I going to get lambasted for effectively having committed 2 offences on the same journey

Please relax until you get a letter. Nothing is achieved by trying to analyse every possibility to the nth degree. Once you have a letter you will be able to get good advice on how to respond. In the meantime, wait and stop trying to overthink everything.

Hard to tell - I don't think it makes it more likely they will prosecute just because you have committed more than one offence.

This is very good advice.

It should do. But keep a record of that payment

I would advise you to pay up. However you still haven't said what ticket type the original ticket was?

Advanced single. Of course I will be paying it that isn’t a question. I am simply asking if this means the matter will be settled or if there will be further legal proceedings.

Yes, assuming you have no mitigating circumstances to offer (I can't see that you have based on things you mentioned originally) then they are saying you can resolve the matter by paying the sum demanded.

Obviously keep proof of payment, and keep copies of all the paperwork associated with this safe in case you need to refer back to it (which hopefully you won't)- you need to keep that long term - over a year and possibly a bit over 6 years.

Just to note, it's not technically a fine - it's the cost of the full priced ticket to replace the one that was not valid, plus their admin. But I think you almost certainly realise that.

Of course , just semantics with the term fine on my part there. I know it’s admin plus ticket fee.

I’ll keep records and payment info.

No mitigating circs other than feeling sick on the day of travel but I won’t be arguing that with them.
