Generally for West Coast DVT operation there was no brake propagation from both ends. For one, you need an E70 (or equivalent DW2/DW3) brake pipe pressure control unit at both ends. Obviously a Class 90 and DVT do, but Classes 86 and 87 don’t. In any case with 110mph max, it is not required anyway.Mk3s used in non-HST push-pull had no extra wiring as the existing RCH cables carried the comms information between the loco/DVT/DBSO computer racks.
I can’t be certain, but I don’t believe that DVT/DBSO braking was propagated from both ends of the train set???
