Interview advice.

I have an interview with northern tomorrow for a trainee driver role.
I'm familiar with the STAR format of question answering and have read up as much as I think I can but I was wanting to ask for some tips from any current drivers on anything to read up on? Or any suggestions.

Some examples to work on

- tell us about a time when you had to deal with an emergency

- tell us about a time when you had to deal with a stressful situation

- tell us about a time you’ve had to work to rules or instruction

The STAR acronym is the best way to answer any of these examples. Personally, I’d have 2 examples to give for each question, just to ensure I hit all the keywords they might be after ie, team player, safety, punctual etc etc

However don’t forget two of the obvious questions

1) tell us what you know about northern and why you want to work for us
2) why should we choose you over everyone else

Make sure your answers relate to the skills needed as a train driver. Lots of people give examples which would not showcase their skills in the role.

So think about the skills needed as a train driver and make sure your examples of situations relate.

They sometimes are looking for key words.
