I am looking at travelling around Germany next year and have questions on Interrail. I know that with the Global pass you have to fill in a trip sheet but does this apply to the single country prices?
I also wonder why 14 days passes in Germany is just over £830 (First Class) but a Global pass for 15 days is only £676 ?

Because IR don't do a "14 days in a month" option.

If you are going in July/August, n case you don't already know, for the last few summers there has been a DB-issued "Deutschlandpass" (or other topical name!) at considerably less and with pretty much the same availability.

It would appear then that as I want to do 14 consecutive days then my best option is a global pass as this would also allow travel into Germany from either Belgium or Holland (not yet sure of my route) and back from Germany.

hmm 'only' £676...

Interrail site says 1st class Global Pass is £607, not £676. Also, it is only the Global Pass that has the trip report to fill in in order that revenue can be apportioned to the actual administrations travelled on.

IMO I would always get a Global pass if needing a lot more than 8 days even if you don't end up travelling for the whole period. If you only want 5, 7 or 9 days then get the relevant one country and look at using a Länder , Quer-Durchs-Land ticket or Schönes Wochenend ticket for one day bearing in mind that they are not valid on IC or ICE services.
