Hi all,

Do you know if it is possible to buy an Interrail global pass at an SNCF station on the day? I would be buying it from Le Havre station.

Thanks,

Mark

I believe it is possible to purchase these tickets from European stations on the day, as long as you are carrying the required identification (proof of European residence for at least 6 months, not France). Perhaps you'd get a more detailed response posting in the International forum.

Can't say I have ever tried in France but have certainly bought them at stations elsewhere (Germany and Austria). Have never been asked to provide proof of residence, but your passport is a must, which of course you should have with you over there ;)

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. I have seen reports of French ticket office staff refusing to issue Inter-Rail passes if France is not the country of residence - obviously, you don't want that to happen.

Why not buy it in the UK in advance?

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. Ordinarily I'd buy it in advance, just sometimes I can have unexpected leave from work and jump on the ferry from Portsmouth.

Good luck!

If you try it, please report back and let us know how it goes.
