Interrail Spain Valencia-Zaragoza

I've planned an itinerary on an Interrail Global Pass, including a journey on 20th July, travelling on the slow but scenic direct service departing Valencia 0820, arriving Zaragoza 1400.

I understand reservations are required on all Renfe services, but am confused that Rail Europe tells me that Passes are not valid on this service (or any alternative connections), while Eurrail tells me passes are valid, but no reaservations are required.

Is this a Renfe issue with Rail Europe, or can I just add the journey through the Eurrail App and be OK?

Im afraid you wont be travelling on train my friend! If you have booked on the direct media distancia, which it seems you have, youll be on a bus the whole way. Route via Teruel is closed until November due to upgrades. And you wont be able to travel on train via other routes using the same ticket u fortunately. It will be a replacement bus.

Thanks. I hadn't yet booked it, so I'll be looking for an alternative stopover between Valencia and Madrid. Since you are familiar with Spain, do you by any chance know when Iryo will start accepting Interrail bookings? They were announced as starting in April.

It's been "delayed due to an unexpected technical issue". Sounds like a problem integrating the reservations system or validating Interrail passes to me, but who knows. There is no currently announced launch date.

Yes, that is what the official answer is. However they do offee very competitive pricing, ive bought a 9€ ticket from Valencia to Madrid on many an occasion for work.
