Internet Explorer 11 problems.

I have this as my back-up to Mozilla Firefox and I occasionally check upon it, as one checks the spare tyre in the boot. Today. all that appeared was a pop-up that said "Internet Explorer is not working" which kept reappearing every time I tried to delete it. All the usual methods of making matters right have not worked.

Has anyone any ideas as to what the current problem may be?

Funnily enough exactly the same issue for me this morning. Firefox is my browser of choice with IE the back up.

The only way I stopped it was to go the the IE folder and zip the contents and then shred it. IE doesn't work now (funnily enough!) but at least the errors have stopped, they got bad enough I had to do a hard reboot.

From the little chatter I can find on the web, there does seem to be a Malware issue doing the rounds.

I have ran full checks using Malwarebytes, CCleaner and Norton 360 once again, after uninstalling and reinstalling Interet Explorer 11, which were all unsuccessful this morning and now all seems to be back to normal now.

I can add nothing to any discussion of computer malfunctions save to say
a) Yesterday around midday whenever I clicked on to any thread on this forum a message popped up saying Norton Antivirus blocked an attack by... slightly different one each time, but basically Ad or Advert somewhere in their identity
b) Today, when my wife switched her computer on she got the message as indicated above and IE is her browser and, as yet, service has not been resumed. We share a computer address.

Don't know whether the two are connected. She has a bit of IT savvy, whereas I have none. She thought her computer, bought secondhand reconditioned a year or three back, might be on its way out, but perhaps there's hope yet.

I hope it's not saying "strong signal ads" in that message? That stuff is very bad news.

Is Adobe Flash player installed ? Whilst useful for playing some videos, it can be an infernal nuisance - it often causes Firefox & Thunderbird to freeze on this computer, and on a laptop. (Windows 7 O.S.)

Just checked upon what had been transferred by my computer engineer from the old to the new HP computer and find the following Adobe products are installed:-
Adobe Reader 11.0.10
Adobe Air 16.0.0.273
Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1.7.157
Adobe Flash Player 16.0.0.275

I most certainly will ask my computer engineer this when he returns with my wife's new laptop that he has transferred the information from her old laptop into, as he knows by now what I use my HP tower system for in my long days of retirement, much of which now seems to be spent upon this particular website unfortunately.
