Incidentally, passenger services on the Transgabonais are hauled by Class 66s.


First of a three part series showing the railways of Gabon. We follow the railway West from Franceville. Trains include the daily passenger service from Franceville to Owendo hauled by Setrag EMD JT42CWRM "Class 66" , and a Manganese train at Moanda hauled by a pair of Comilog EMD GT46's.

Also, if you are on the 'Omnibus', rather than the 'Express', there are a great many more than six or seven stations!

Thanks for the Info - I was going off the Man in Seat 61 only listing 6 Stations but looks like it's possible there are lots more depending on which service used.

Well I only learned it all this morning myself. I have been to Gabon, but it was in the early '70s and somewhat accidental as the oil-rig supply boat I was on was meant to go to Pointe-Noire in the Congo but the weather had other ideas. If construction of the railway had started by then it was only just.

Moving on....
