Bosra on the Hejaz Railway in Syria?

Bang on. I was about to say that it's not my photo, but that saying where it comes from immediately would be too much of a clue at the beginning.

However, since Zaphod Beeblebrox's brain doctor has come up with the answer so quickly, I'll tell you now that the photo is from James Nicholson's magnificent book 'The Hejaz Railway', 3rd edition published in 2021.

That was hard work.

As for this one, we got down from the train at this station in 1977 at which time there were no buildings and it was just known by its distance in km from the terminus. I spent the next three months in the mountains. The picture is from Google maps though.

I had a series of clues prepared, none of them necessary now.

It is indeed Q'orihuayrachina, in the Peruvian Andes. At about 2600m elevation, it is best known as one of the starting points for the 'Inca Trail' hiking path to Machu Picchu, and is situated on the line that goes from Cusco to Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu and beyond to Intihuatana Hydroelectrica. It was just called Km 88 when I was there.

Some of these stations are so tough, I can't even begin to fathom how anyone would know and remember such stuff, even for ardent railfans! I wished to post a station but I don't think I would ever be able to guess any one to be eligible.

I only attempt the photos where I have some kind of clue based on a detail in the photo or the general context. For this one, we were on Latin America already from the last station and Maccu Piccu is the kind of place you could spend 3 months in the mountains . The photo looked like it could be the Andes so it was worth a check. From there, Google Maps photos / streetview alongside OpenRailwayMap are your friends! On the other hand, some places in Europe that people on here get in 5 minutes I would have no clue on!

I tried to find views of this station without the name on it but those are interior views that won't help anyone. Here is a frontal image of this huge station taken by me last year. The 3 masked off signs are names in 3 languages.

This station was meant to resemble another one with it's iconic canopy but the idea dropped in middle due to cost overruns. It was built by the British.
