internal vacancies

Hi all

I am looking at applying for a fixed term role with virgin in customer service (on-board). I realise it's impossible for anyone to give me a firm answer, and that the situation will not be static anyway, but wondering if someone can give me an idea of how often internal vacancies come up? The location is not ideal for me, but is feasible, especially as a way in. I'd be happy to complete the fixed term but would hope to find a job in a different location afterwards.

I'm in Chester, so Liverpool Lime Street would be best. I don't know too much about virgin, I assume csa staff would start at the end of the line rather than at a station along the line? I feel like an idiot typing that, I don't know nearly as much as all the other posters on this forum!

Don't forget that even if something doesn't come up internally, you will have gained experience which will make you more valuable to another TOC - especially if you have a current medical and common route knowledge!

On board CSA is a role with a relatively high turnover rate and from my experiences, there are perinnial issues with staff shortages on trains.

The roles therefore are advertised frequently and once in it, you'll never want for overtime.

Only as and when vacancies arise, then you have to apply and go through the same assessment process as an external applicant. You can't just put in for a transfer.
