Interim service at Corby

East Midlands Trains has said that an interim service to Corby will commence from next Monday, 23rd February. This service will consist of one return service a day operating Monday to Saturday at the following times:

Monday - Friday:
0637 Corby - St Pancras 0755
1800 St Pancras - Corby 1919

Saturday:
0919 Corby - St Pancras 1029
1700 St Pancras - Corby 1815

I have read somewhere on the forum that there are livery issues regarsing the former operators. Is this responsible?

Yes apparently First didn't want 222s running around the East Midlands in their livery. They have been painted now though.

Surely some stock can be found from somewhere to do the job?

To be honest EMT shouldn't even queried about it because they should paint them from the off.
It's alright with MML livery but when you take on another companies stock it should be painted right away.

Today's Metro had a headline about the "seventeen million pound station with just one train a day" - made it sound like some beaurocratic mess up, rather than a sensible way of introducing services slowly, rather than waiting longer.

I work on the GSM line on a regular basis and the old platform is still in place from when it ceased operating in 1990,i would say the infastructure from kettering north through to corby north junction would need a lot of development to support twin tracking.

Good idea - it annoys me when new stations are built with no scope for future growth.

Could the line north of Corby be used as an alternative to the MML route to Leicester? (excuse my ignorance)
