Maybe they don't want the 1244 to feel superior?

Reminds me of a photo I have of the display at platform 1 at Swindon:

Code:
1st 1311 Cheltenham Spa Exp 1311
2nd 1311 London Paddington Exp 1311

Any problems there? Naah...<D

Assuming that is Alton platform 1 (it certainly looks like it), I imagine this has been done to illustrate to passengers that the next service to Waterloo will be from platform 2 at xx:15.

However, the 12:15 Alton - London Waterloo starts at Farnham on weekdays, so either somebody didn't notice that when modifying the CIS, I'm wrong and the whole thing is a bug, or the photo was taken on a Saturday.

At the time the photo was taken, the 1244 was the next service. From platform 1.

Well if it was taken on a weekday then that is indeed the case, and I can only assume that it hasn't been noticed that there is no 12:15.

I know ALUA (Alton Line Users' Association) made a big fuss over the fact passengers often didn't notice there was a service booked to depart first from platform 2, and it wouldn't suprise me if this is part of the solution - although I'm aware they also installed a new departure screen.

Yes, was a weekday. Today in fact!

I fail to see how it indicates the next service is from 2 - to any person, they'll (like I did) think it was a error!

It would normally be the second train to London Waterloo at that time. If it was somewhere else I'd say it was obviously an error. I don't know enough about Alton station to say whether it always does that, but I do know there was a load of fuss created by ALUA about pax not realising there were extra trains available from platform 2.

If it is an error, it's not common!

I don't really understand what thefab is trying to get at either, as that PIS's job is only to inform what would be happening on that platform, the full list of departures would appear on separate screens, one of which can be seen through the window on the right.
