Interesting Class 8 move on Chiltern

There is going to be an interesting move early tomorrow morning XWY-AYS.

Something blue sandwiched between two Class 68s.

Hopefully there will be plenty of lubricant on hand!

Probably not much to see as station lights will be off for most of the journey.

As far as im aware it has been used twice. The last permanent depot driver qualified on it retired last year. There are a couple of Aylesbury drivers who are qualified to operate it.

I thought I was seeing double this morning when I went down to Morrisons, as there was suddenly two little blue shunters, so I did some digging. It seems Scaz has appeared at Aylesbury - it certainly wasn't there over the weekend as I walked past the depot twice, or at least, it wasn't outside.

Considering this thread originally started a month ago, did it really take a month to get it down to Aylesbury, or has it been hiding somewhere all this time?

The move eventually took place in the early hours of Saturday (March 12th).

I find it amusing it took over 4 hours to drag it from Wembley to Aylesbury. But then all that stop-start to make sure the axle boxes hadn't burst into flames probably didn't help.

When I saw it, I assumed it'd been brought in by road, like Lesley had been, but then that brings its own complications.

I'm interested to find out its fate.

I'm going to miss the little blue one on my travels. They seem to be short of space at Wembley at certain times, I've noticed a few 165s often get put in a siding further down the line on some days.

All I know is that it is going from Aylesbury to Long Marston by road at an unspecified date and it will be put up for sale when it is at LM.

Makes me wonder what the market is like for such little shunters. I was idly digging about online the other day looking at random For Sale notices for rolling stock.

I'm also curious as to the fate of Lesley, given how rarely it moves. I reckon it'll end up going the same way eventually. Shame really, because I like seeing different things sitting in the sidings at Aylesbury other than 165s or 168s. I always enjoy the novelty of a Class 68 and DVT sitting there.

Lesley gets a bit more use than Scaz did, but it is nevertheless fairly rare for the loco to turn a wheel in anger.

In other news, Scaz departed for Long Marston on an Alleleys low loader today.

got earlier and earlier up no nearly an hour ahead, then ended up 5 late at Alyesbury, just looks odd
