That's a superb set of routes they've chosen. Really a grand tour of the Scottish InterCity network.

It is a good price, but it doesn't include overnight accommodation for Edinburgh or Inverness, which will possibly push the price up by quite a bit. The departure and return times will mean that I'd have to stay at Crewe before and after the trip as well. Still, a good trip, nevertheless.

It's a shame they aren't doing tickets for just the Scottish portion of the tour. I would love to do Edinburgh - Glasgow and up north in this, but I'm not going down to Crewe to do so!

Possibly, but you’d think the tour would be redated. It’s the hotels people need to be very careful with to make sure they can get a refund.

I was thinking about this. A 'Thunderbird' 47 shadowing it around the network might be sensible. Sticking a random diesel from the LSL pool behind the DBSO would ruin the look and point of the tour.

I wonder if the DBSO will be at the Glasgow end on the E-to-G runs.

At £139 for standard class, just doing the Scottish bit isn't bad value in railtour terms, without having to go to Crewe.

Day 1 is effectively a positioning move in any case.

It's an excellent price, especially when compared to one-day trips marketed under the Statesman, Saphos and Midland Pullman brands. A veritable bargain.

It's not a standard Mk3 TSO if their description of all seats being at tables is true! It sounds a bit like a Chiltern/ex WSMR one but it'd be nice if they'd publicise that.

If it is a standard 76 seat IC70 fitted Mk3 TSO I'd not buy unless I could guarantee a table seat, ideally window. I don't fit in airlines on those. (I've had this stupid discussion with a holiday company before - basically, I can't go on your holiday unless you can guarantee you are going to select me the exit row on the flight because I won't physically fit elsewhere on some aircraft - they did do it in the end but really got quite uppity over it - plus I've had tour companies who wouldn't guarantee a twin room - I'm not going to sleep with my Dad!)

Yes, I'd initially thought about getting a table for two in First Class as a present to myself and to Omar, but I saw it was sold out I changed my mind - risking sitting next to a wodge of white plastic rather than a window isn't that appealing!
