Indeed, 311 is still part way through it's nose job. It'll just look like a 57/6 when completed. Nothing has been done with 302 yet as far as I'm aware.

I've never been on one of these tours before, is there any particular dress code to adhere to? Will there be any longer stops at stations to go and buy things etc, thanks

No dress code at all. There are usually planned stops (see the itinerary), but if the train ends up running late these can be curtailed so don't bank on them existing and have a plan B.

Suggest you stock up on food / drink before boarding the train. Friday is a very short day anyway, arriving in Edinburgh at 1445.
There should be enough time to dive out at Glasgow and/or Edinburgh on the Saturday to get supplies, similarly Aberdeen on the Sunday. There is a buffet on the train but expect only basic provisions to be available.
I'm not sure how the Buffet / Catering will be operated on this: Oddly, standard class is made up of ex DRS & ex Greater Anglia, First is made up of ex Greater Anglia, the buffet vehicle however is a mix of Greater Anglia and GWR (dressed up as ScotRail).

Pretty sure the whole rake is 'dressed up' as ScotRail - that's rather the whole point.
There is at least one original ScR DBSO-rake vehicle in the consist but that's probably more by chance than design.

I'm talking about the interior though - the interior of the DBSO, TSO & FO's are largely unchanged from their previous uses, but the RFMB has ex GWR seats and panels with the headrests recovered with ScotRail in the middle panel.

The buffet was converted from a TSO by Anglia Railways but has been refitted with tables and ex-HST First Class seats bought by LSL from FGW. Given LSL's track record with paying attention to detail, I expect the stock interior to feature many replica ScotRail decals and suchlike for the most authentic experience possible.

Indeed but I was referring to a trailer - 12171 was originally 11010, allocated to EC in the 1980s.

This tour has been all over my social media today and looking glorious. Nothing I thought I would ever see recreated and charging around Scotland! Top marks to all involved.

Went to see it at Queen Street with a mate, quite a few of the Std Class carriages looked half-empty surprisingly.
As it is, the tour seems to have run flawlessly today. Despite a signal check at Haymarket making it 3 late at Edinburgh Park, the 0902 was 1.5 early into Queen Street on a 46 min schedule.

What was the speed restriction on this tour? It might of been the short formation but it certainly felt faster than the usual 75!

I know, that's why I was surprised. I'd say, 75-80% full in both Firsts but only 45-50% in the Stds.

Given the itinerary and comparatively low cost, I wonder of some participants chose to opt in and out of bits of the trip.

Quite possibly, just seemed a bit of a shame to have so many empty seats on even one leg given how quickly it sold out. Others unsuccessful in getting tickets would've liked them was what I was trying to say.
47712 was re-bogied and re-blocked especially to make her 95mph fit.

That would make more sense!
A few did, giving themselves just over 2 hours in Glasgow, but most reboarded when the departure was announced. Quite a few stayed on the train during the station stop as well.
That looks fabulous. One of the best liveries of the BR era, though never sure about the front end not aligning with the cab windows. Hopefully it’ll do a tour of other parts of the country. Down here in the West Country back in the day we’d get the odd scotrail coach in the sleeper trains but never a loco.

That was during the period when NSE took on the Scottish 47/7s to replace class 50s and put them straight into service in Scotrail colours.

Only remember 47706 being in Scotrail (at least only one I have a photo of on a Waterloo Exeter turn. Seem to remember others already being in NSE having been used on Paddington turns beforehand? Certainly had 47712 out of Paddington in 1991 and fairly sure it was parcels livery?

Funnily enough, the last 47/7 I saw in Scotland was in ex-works Network South East livery. I think it was August or September 1990 and I turned up at Inverness to catch the internal sleeper to Glasgow. When I walked up front it was 47702 and smell of the new NSE paint job was obvious. It also had its St Cuthbert nameplates spuced up - looked a treat. I'm assuming it was fresh out of Glasgow Works and perhaps on a test run before heading south, which I believe it did within a few days.
Locomotive Services have made a cracking job of 47712, the DBSO and MkIIIs. It's many years since I've travelled on a railtour and this is the first time I've ever considered it again, alas not for this one. Plenty of high speed running in nice comfy carriages visiting interesting routes and destinations - a recipe for success I should think and I wish LSL and the loco owners every success with it.

100mph was clocked several times on the E-G on Saturday and Sunday.

It was timed for 95mph but 47712 and the stock is passed for 100mph if the line speed allows, as it was 'back in the day'.
Train was indeed fully booked, but as many people on board were heading to and from the buffet / walking around the train, it might have appeared that there were some seats empty.

At least 47701, 47704, 47706, 47711 and 47715 all came south and worked NSE trains in ScotRail livery.
