There were also sets of standard rolling stock for charter purposes
In the general fleet, the First Class rolling stock would not have white roofs
This livery started appearing about 1984 and ceased in 1988 with the introduction of the revised INTERCITY swallow, that version continuing to privitisation
The majority of Mark 1 coaches were owned by the charter train unit
The remainder of buffets and restaurants were split between Cross Country and West Coast
There were also a small number of these coaches kept as spare for contigencies, some of which would accidently be used on regional and/or local services, resulting in unusual consists
