Intercity charter roof white

Could someone check and confirm the correct colour for Intercity charter roof white please
As applied to InterCity executive and INTERCITY swallow coaches (1980s and 1990s)

I need this to complete my next N gauge rake of stock (I wonder if any layouts at Model Rail Scotland 2010 fancy hiring any of them?)

Some were white and some metallic silver, so you can take your pick.

I don't mean to be funny, but white is white. There aren't any other shades. If it wasn't white it would have been grey or some other colour. But if you want a proper answer it was probably the same paint as was used on the white stripe that formed part of the IC livery.

I know the early one was Rail White (Railmatch 203)
However, I am unsure if Silver White was applied to the roofs on INTERCITY livery
The difference is subtle when you place both whites beside each other

Equally, seeing a pristine white roof was rare
Dirt build up was very common as the roofs were only cleaned once a year
I therefore may just stick with Rail White with light weathering, leaving one coach unweathered (typical most sets had one coach in ex-works conditions!)

I never saw any coaches from the InterCity Charter Unit in Intercity liveries with silver roofs

I've never seen any of the Intercity Charter Mk1s with silver roofs, only white.

From what I understand, the white was the same as that used on the Loco's and other stock at the time. Also, this is probably what was lying around at the paint shops!

This is the issue, as I can't find many photos on fotopic to compare; in InterCity executive livery (where the locos had light grey) rail white was used, in INTERCITY swallow (where the locos had silver white instead of light grey) was the roof the same colour?

I used to have a contact at the Railway Technical Centre to check approved railway liveries, but that is no longer an option
I know from this that the InterCity Charter Train Unit started off using Rail White, sadly I didn't follow that up to confirm what the roof colour was for INTERCITY swallow

However I there are some good photos of the Hebridean with the INTERCITY Class 37s, but the roof colour is not clear

Well surely there can only be one shade of white anyway?

Just use a the nearest white you can find to match the white on the Interctity Swallow Loco's. The shade would differ between Loco's and stock anyway, given weather conditions, lighting, weathering etc.

I have a rake of 13 Replica Railways Intercity Charter Mk1s with the white roofs, and even some of those differ slightly in colour from each other. If you're trying to recreate the real railway, they would never all be the same colour/shade anyway.

Not for InterCity livery there wasn't
It started off as Rail White and was later replace by Silver White (as above)
The difference could also be seen on coaches painted with stripes in Rail White and locos painted with stripes in Silver White
