Cheers guys,
just planning a trip over to cover the various GM services, now that loco hauled is finito and most of our mk3s have had their date with the scrap man here in the emerald Isle.
Just doing price comparissons for the flexibility of an Interail ticket and buying lots of advanced tickets. A 3 day UK pass is €125 which is expensive compared to the likes of Croatia say, at €44 (plus unlimited noisy diesel hauled passengers

)
Advanced fares are great value for covering few, long distance trips but for hopping on and off lots of trains they are not great, plus with advanced you've sort of got to stick to your plan.
For example, with the two FGW hauled diagrams, plus the ATW one, I plan to spin down there for two days, then I may go up and do the Wrexhams for a day or else go to Scotland to spin the 67s up there-depending on what locos I need etc, or may do the London-Birmingham 90s, if you can be sure to get your money out if then the Interail sounds like a good option.
