Integrated m-ticket booking

Hello,

When booking m-tickets I have the following experiences:

CrossCountry Journey: m-ticket available via XC booking apps, not via GWR.

GWR Journey: m-ticket available via GWR booking apps, not via XC.

I’d prefer to make all bookings via the GWR app so that I can collect Nectar points, but the m-ticket is also very convienent.

Other than the Trainline, does anybody know of an app/booking site which allows purchase of m-tickets for all applicable operators?

As far as I am aware, only The TrainLine has an app compatible with every operator's m-tickets. Note, however, that some TrainLine based websites, such as CrossCountry's desktop website, do support e-tickets for other operators' services.

I'm sure I got the old XC app to offer me TPE m-tickets under the old franchise. Haven't got it installed at the moment so can't verify whether this is still the case but ATW m-tickets I could never find in anything but the ATW app.

Of course, Britain's train companies are working together as National Rail. But only in a manner Arthur Birling would recognise, not in a manner of a standards body (the way they should be working/forced to work).

I believe West Midlands Railway supports mobile ticketing for various other TOCs on their site (except the WMCA Super Off Peak specials) however I cannot be 100%

This is entirely possible - I have not used GWR m-tickets or e-tickets before (I generally only use them on CrossCountry due to the flexibility offered by XC in changing Advances for free before travel) so I wouldn't know! I do know, however, that whenever I've looked to see if TrainLine would offer me m-tickets or e-tickets, where the operator has supported it, it has worked.

From what I can tell, GWR's differ from other m / e-tickets in that they do not have to be activated before use, but because of that they are only available on journeys where either the start or end station has a gateline (so the ticket will get "scanned" and presumably electronically marked to prevent reuse. The fact they are different would explain why they aren't available elsewhere.
