Instal Issues on Vista

Well, my problem arises when I try and install Rail Simulator, my computers running vista seem to hate it, I get numerous errors including, cannot access files, verify it exists and try again, etcetc.


It then freezes both laptops.


Anyone else had this problem or know the solution?!

Is this on a "Oxford-to-Paddington" scenario?

Happens to me sometimes its say "pure function decall" or somthing,it happens on the "Return ticket" scenario with the Class 166 or the Class 47 scenario.

No no, I can't get that far.

It won't install for some reason the installer freezes both laptops running vista, but works fine on XP.

Yes, i have a Vista x64 machine & it works perfectly, along with every other program designed to run with Vista or XP.

Here's how i did it...




1. go to Ebay
2. Purchase a copy of XP
3. purchase a 40 or so GB Hard-drive
4. Install Hard-drive into PC, select the boot sequence in bios to the new HDD before the original HDD
5. Install XP
6. Voila! just change the boot sequence in bios to get either XP or Vista, & run 'em all to your heart's content

Haha! Or even simpler - forget about installing another hard drive and just use a seperate partition.

.. well I have several hard drives in my house but i can't fit two in my laptop as it already has one for the rebooting

Do you happen to know if could be run on a virtual machine?

Yet again saves messing around with changing hard drives etc., but you might need quite a high spec machine to allocate enough RAM to the VM for the game (maybe overall even more than the max 3-4GB ish on a 32 bit setup), and a good processor to handle what is effectively two computers at once.

You'd also have to have a very powerful machine to be able to emulate a virtual machine powerful enough to run the game.

Thanks for your help, I've unzipped all my files on the disk, turns out Data1 (install directory) has been corrupted some how. I'm working on fixing the issue as we speak!
