Can I just say what a wonderful series this is....high quality Drama from The BBC.

I think Martin Shaw is terrific in the title role, he has progressed a lot from the days of "Bodie and Doyle"

He was brilliant in Rhodes and Judge John Deed as well.

Well done BBC :p

Although doubtless his CI5 training would have stood him in good stead for yesterday's gun battles :p

I agree though. My favourite detective series since Morse.

Talking of Morse Kevin Whatley was the baddie yesterday - was it my imagination or did he look very gaunt - seems to have lost a lot of weight compared to his normal stature in Lewis

He was - quite stubbly as well. Nicely distinguishing him as the baddie !

I have only watched one episode. Where is his accent from, is it Norwich? My wife saw him interviewed and said that was his real accent.

I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode, and indeed the whole run. Funnily enough, when it first came on I didn't take to it immediately, but it has obviously grown on me.

I also enjoyed Judge John Deed, and I've always been a bit narked that Apparitions didn;t come back for another series!

Apparitions! I remember that now, it was great fun.
What I do like about Martin Shaw is how he can be very still and quiet while conveying so much. The very opposite of flashy. Much underrated actor.

I agree that Martin Shaw is a very good actor.
But did he and Kevin Whateley really have a gun battle in Durham Cathedral last night, or was it just made up to look like it?

Yes I wondered about that too.

Is there another series planned?

Well the inference (but not specifically stated) from the ending was that both he and his sidekick were dying, having first shot the baddie dead.

Cliffhanger I think

I do hope there is another series as this is one of the best crime shows currently being produced.
