How funny, I was about to say what a pity we don't have more locos and units which look like some of those displayed. Great pictures by the way.

They may be good photos, but those loco designs are eye-mangling in my opinion

Well, it can apparently do 125mph on the AC and 100mph on Diesel. Wonder if that's with a full load of 12 bi-level cars? Bit big, mind, for UK tracks. Tech data from manufacturer on wikipedia page.

Also a 131 tonne Bo-Bo, axle weight well over 30 tonnes!

The 67 is only 88 tonnes and is bad enough!

I'm sure they'll be more than happy to make it C0C0 (little more then 21 tonnes per axle) if they can sell in the UK.

I reckon it would run into issues of space if you tried to shrink everything down to fit it through our structures- remeber, this beast is built for the US/Canada. Having said that, I think weight is available to be saved by making it single-current only- tech specs indicate it can take three different AC systems.

My interest was somewhat piqued by this intermodal trailer, so I went looking- here is the brochure from their website. It seems quite cunning- essentially a more flexible version of the system used by Modalohr that does away with the need for specialised terminals that the train needs to line up with. I assume though that the usual loading gauge issues prevent its use in the UK- hopw fantastic would be, with appropriate capacity enchancements, to have basic terminals located just outside major cities served by trains like that? Imagine how much freight could dissappear from the A14 (for example) with a service running Felixstowe-Peterborough-Birmingham.
