What about the sidings at Llandudno, they were overgrown, rotting away for years. Network rail spent £500,000 tidying, relaying ballast and the like back in around 2015 and I still don't think they have ever had a train on them, there were plenty of charters visiting in the last couple of years and none of them have used the sidings. So I can't see why they will if ever get used if the charters don't need to .

Same with the sidings at Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft

I've just realised that this is surprising. From the Greenford direction, the only existing connection at Northolt Junction is to the down platform at South Ruislip Station. (Chiltern's daily service from South Ruislip to Paddington leaves from that platform) I would have expected this diversionary route to have been used by down services, not up services.
The link from Greenford to South Ruislip was used by trains in both directions. They separated south of Greenford with up services using the route through Park Royal to Old Oak Common and the down services travelling over the 'Greenford Branch' via West Ealing.
Further along the Bow sand sidings but it looks like some work is going on around there
If you mean where I think you mean, Bow sand sidings are still in daily use. There is a class 66 hauled train there most weekday mornings.

Network Rail now saying the Acton-Northolt line will close on New Year's Eve this year and severed just west of Old Oak Common West Junction. This will be to allow installation of a conveyor belt which will remove spoil from the HS2 Old Oak Common station site.

I assume that's a temporary closure though?

There are no plans in place to restore the line once the conveyor belt has gone however this may change as the Phase 1a element of the HS2 project develops over the next 8 years.

Not true, Chiltern will not agree to it being closed permanently as they are looking to go into OOC.

Am I right in thinking a couple of stations, such as Crewe, got Regional Eurostar lounges? Do any of those still exist?

The space for international facilities at Stratford International sits there unused.

Will the daily Chiltern route-knowledge trains continue to run but via West Ealing, or will they be discontinued for the duration? I would imagine paths on the GWML might be an issue, although I suppose they do use a short length of that now.

They're already taking up the path out of Paddington so can't see an extra bit to West Ealing being an issue - the only issue is the Greenford shuttle and if it remains 5 minutes behind the Crossrail train at West Ealing as it does today further east then it should slot nicely between the shuttles and arrive at Northolt Junction around the same time as it would going via Park Royal (based on the freight train that goes through half an hour earlier!)

You are ignoring the increased Crossrail in that, it was difficult enough to get an hourly freight path on the reliefs.

I'm fairly certain that nobody will ever walk through this doorway to catch a train ever again!

(Location is the former Cooper Bridge station on the Calder Valley line. Huddersfield's first station.)

Clifton rocks railway lower entrance had a similar fate. During the war it was used as a air raid shelter and for bbc radio broadcasts.

Yes, badly phrased by myself earlier. Chiltern looking to go into OOC but not through to Paddington. Acton-Northolt line will have to be re-doubletracked which shouldn't be too much bother.

If I get the time - the builders are in this week - I'll ride the train and ask the staff what the future is for this service. Presumably, Chiltern still need a diversion possibility in case Marylebone is ever blockaded.

. . . . Is there any chance of the rail connection off the West London Line to the scrapyard near Willesden Junction being used again? The last time I saw it, a few months back, there was shredded scrap all over the sidings. . . .
I've just been re-reading this thread and realised your question has not been answered. That route from Mitre Bridge Junction is still open and is used regularly by various freight trains from both the WCML and Acton Wells Junction. It's also used by the Milton Keynes/East Croydon passenger service.

As noted above, the future will be running via West Ealing as the single line from Old Oak Common is being lifted for development of the new OOC Interchange.

Network Rail want to rebuild the line from Old Oak Common, serving a new platform or two there in order to relieve Marylebone - cf the West Midlands & Chiltern Route Study. West Ealing is not mentioned at all as it isn't the long-term plan.

Railway gen 101 - the staff are second to last to find out anything  Plenty of rumours though. The trick is picking up what is baseless and what is relevant.
