Apologies if this has been previously covered.

Is there any way to find out when track replacement is scheduled? Rails have recently been unloaded in the four-foot at my local station (Linlithgow), and I would be interested to get a look at the process when these are installed.

Near where the 3 ridings meet
It could be anytime in the next year or could be underway now.

The work may be a full renewal with sleepers and ballast all being renewed, in which case it will probably be on the opposite line to the one where the rails are laid.
Are any new spray paint marks visible? That may give a clue.

The minimum that would be done if rails have been laid would be for a rerail only, which will be on the line were the rails are dropped.

It may all be done midweek nights and can be a fairly rapid process.
