Info request - e-ticket retailers

Hi all. I'm looking for some help with a little idea I'm working on. I'm looking to compile a list of email addresses from which retailers send e-tickets to passengers.

For clarity, I'm not looking for contact emails for the TOCs or retailers, rather I want the actual 'from' email address shown on the email where the PDF e-tickets are attached.

I have started the list off with my recent purchases. If anyone can check their emails and give details for other retailers for me to add to the list, that would be great.

Some sort of inbox scanning tool that extracts the eTicket PDFs (and then does what with them :p)?

Out of curiosity, what do you want this for? To whitelist the email send addresses?

Caledonian Sleeper doesn’t attach e-tickets to emails. It caused too many delivery problems, especially with corporate firewalls. Instead the booking confirmation email contains a link to a page where the e-tickets - in both pdf and pkpass form - can be downloaded at any time. Where there are multiple passengers / tickets the pdf is available both as a single pdf and as a series of pdfs to suit the customer.

I had an idea for a simple 'how to' guide for using filters on Gmail to automatically forward any e-tickets you receive to a Dropbox folder. The folder could then be accessed by a shortened url in the eventuality that someone's phone failed, eliminating the need to sign into your email on a stranger's phone, which is clearly a security risk.

Unfortunately my idea won't work as I'd first envisaged. Gmail's forwarding requires the destination email to be verified by a code, and annoyingly the 'email to Dropbox' feature on Dropbox only picks up attachments, not the email content, so I can't verify the link with Gmail. Back to square one.

Still, got the grain of an idea, and I will keep thinking. Thanks everyone for your input.

It’s a nice idea. Thank you for trying. I have been thinking about how retailers / train operators can better make e-tickets available to reduce issues when a phone breaks or is not able to show a ticket that has been purchased. I’ll chat to a few other people. It was actually one of the requirements right at the start in 2016 but got put into the too difficult box at the time.

You can set up an account at www.tripit.com I use a free one, to prepare an itinerary for trips.

Tripit is an American company, and sometimes it doesn't recognise the emails from UK companies, so you may need to add the details for a trip manually. I find it useful - especially to make sure that I book trains, flights and hotels in the right order. It makes a nicely formatted itinerary that I can distributed to my family, so they know where I'm going. I can use their app, which makes it easy to pass the address for a hotel to a SatNav.

I just forward emails to plans@tripit.com manually, but they have an "Inbox Sync" feature if you use Gmail, Google Workspace, Yahoo! Mail, and Outlook for your email. It then automatically adds trips if it sees an email that it recognises.

My employer upgraded my account to a Pro one for a bit, but I didn't find the extra features that useful.

The problem with trying to compile such a list is it's completely out of your control - some may change, some may use multiple addresses.

What is it that you're trying to do?

Edit: ah, I see you've explained. Unfortunately what you're describing will never be simple for anyone not technically minded, and those that are who want to do something like that will likely be able to themselves.
