Infected people refusing to isolate

In Portugal, a 43-year-old man and his mother, aged 70, are on the run after being tested for COVID-19.

The two arrived from France after they initially fled due to the propagation of the virus in that country. Before and after the tests were made, they walked on the streets, regularly visited shops and supermarkets and went to the health care centre, with no individual protection.

After the tests were made, the two moved to a recently rented block in Póvoa de Varzim, retaining their habits, where they were approached by the police for disobeying the nationwide order of self-isolation. He used his brother's identity to skip detention.

They are now on the run, with unknown whereabouts, having left the block they rented in Póvoa a day before being confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

The two were the first two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Fafe, Municipality that has now 11 extra confirmed cases, with more cases under evaluation. Póvoa de Varzim, where the two remained on the streets after being tested for COVID-19, has now 34 confirmed cases.

OK, this was uncalled for. It's already hard to deal with the disease the way it is already, and now we also have paranoid people running away as if they are fleeing from prison...

I imagine this sort of issue may become more common in the USA?

It could be that they are wanted by police for other unrelated matters or are suffering from mental health issues unfortunately it’s kind of inevitable that this situation will lead to a increase in mental health problems.

They surely are now being wanted by the police since they're on the loose despite being confirmed cases of COVID-19!
Especially now that transit between municipalities is strictly forbidden.

Well... I think there's some sort of fear, not of the virus itself, but everything else intrinsic to the disease, like having to be quarantined at a hospital or, eventually, dying from it and be treated, not as a human, but a very dangerous... "thing".

Anyone who dies in this very moment is going to have a very sad and empty "farewell", and everyone knows it.
