Industrial Action for March/April

Hi, is there any updates on proposed dates for industrial action or are RMT and Aslef biding their time to the general election?

I commute on the trains so it would be nice to know if any dates have been discussed for upcoming strikes.

Following with interest as I've got a couple of trips planned and I've lost track of who's doing what at the moment.

Unless and until further dates are announced by ASLEF nobody will be in a position to advise.

RMT are in local negotiations and will need to exhaust that process and re ballot before any further strikes are called.

Nothing has been announced. RMT are still in negotiations over the pay deal so won't hold any strike action. Don't expect ASLEF to say anything until if/when they choose a date to take action on though.

I think it's simply just a case of waiting and see regarding the drivers union and any further action.

Nothing has been announced yet but remember a minimum of 14 days' notice must be given for any strike action. Although there are some rumours of a May election, nothing has been officially confirmed and I very much doubt the election date would have any bearing on whether any more strike dates are announced anyway.

I’ve heard renewed rumours of “behind the scenes” talks, but I’m not holding my breath after so many false dawns.

As it's currently still the case that the rail unions are obliged to give at least 14 days' notice of any strike action, would it be fair to say that possible industrial action over the Easter holidays isn't yet out of the question?

Until Easter is less than 14 days away, absolutely.

Indeed. And even for travel before then, there could still always be some short notice cancellations of individual services due to staff not willing to work overtime, etc.

@Chatt3nden. Welcome to the forum. Presume you're commuting from somewhere in Kent into Central London? Are trains in your area operated exclusively by South Eastern or do you have any alternative choice?

My understanding is the Unions only need to notify the employer (and members) of industrial action, they don't need to make a public announcement.
If TOCs are slow at announcing the withdrawal of services, you'd get less than 14 days notice.

That's right, I'm limited to Southeastern as I travel to Bromley South from Rochester for work.

Thameslink also operate services through there, so that may be useful, depending on where you’re coming from.
