Given the ongoing problems regarding finding extra paths through our busiest stations and junctions, not to mention recruiting and training drivers and guards, wouldn’t it be better operating longer trains instead of trying to increase frequencies on some routes?
Surely operating a 6 carriage (or longer) train reliably every 30 minutes is better than attempting to run a shorter train every 15 minutes over certain parts of our congested network?
I appreciate that some stations may require platform lengthening, but could Selected Door Opening be employed?
