Last night I was working a service from Seaford to Brighton, with a 377.
There was an issue with the pis in that while it worked fine going one way, comeing back it jammed, just listing the calling points, so i was having to do manual announcements.
Anyway, on the third trip, while we were sitting at Lewes during an advertised wait, it suddenly went, the next station is bishopstone.
So we set off, for our run to Brighton, calling at Falmer, mouslecoombe, London Rd and Brighton.
As we came to Falmer, I gave the manual aoouncemtn,We got to Falmer, and the doors would not open. I did the please wait, and after about 50-60 secs, the doors opened. We set off, came the mouslecoombe, again, i said so, doors would not open, took 40-50 secs to open. Now I know know what the issue is, etc, but as a result, we were at each station, for longer than normal.
Set off, came the london rd, well you know....and the same for Brighton.
But what this post is about, is one passenger who got off at London rd, came over and complained, that he wanted Mouselcoombe, but as it said the next station bishopstone (only on the displays) he missed the stop. I told him to cross over, and catch the next train back. But what got me is, I was making regular annoucements for each station, due to the fault we were at each station for longer than usual and each station was well lit as well.
Plus, I'd seen the pass get on at Falmer, so thats one stop to his station, 3 mins of journey time.
We cannot win.
