I'm currently sitting on a very cold Platform 1 at Dewsbury. I caught the 17:32 First Transpennine train from Manchester, intending to alight at Leeds for Sandal and Agbrigg. As the train was standing at Huddersfield, the announced that "This is Huddersfield. The next stop will be Leeds." . When I got off at the next stop, there were no signs visible on the platform with the station name. I realised it was not Leeds after I got off, but the train had left.
Due to a points failure at Ardwick, the next train to Leeds was not due for half an hour, which will cause me to arrive an hour late at my eventual destination.
I'm hopping mad at myself for making this mistake, but is there any point in complaining to First?
My starting station was Manchester Piccadilly, and it was the train PIS that made the announcement. The platform on which I couldn't find any signage was Platform 1 at Dewsbury.
