No, you don’t get to make that sweeping assumption. Whether I have experience of this situation is not something you have any knowledge of whatsoever; I’m not sure what makes you think in your two months on the forum you’ve become familiar with what I do and have done in my life, but sheer guesswork is distasteful and pointless.

Exactly, is isn’t. At the end of the day, the high and mighty tone is unnecessary, and if chums of said driver wish to disagree they can by all means, but maniacs like this passenger clearly was would likely be further incensed by such wording, if anything.

Does anyone know if the situation would have been handled differently had the two platform staff been men, or did the train wait purely because they were women?
How dare you call the passenger a maniac. What a ridiculous high and mighty tone. Like a teacher preaching to a class

I am commenting on a forum, not making a public announcement.

We do not feel comfortable leaving them in the hands of 2 female platform staff so currently waiting for police to arrive.

Did anyone respond to my question, which was - would the train still have waited at Grantham for police if the platform staff had been male, or was this purely decided due to their female sex? I’m just curious to know.

Having now caught up on the initial posting and comments, I don't see anything that the on-train staff should have done differently. A disruptive passenger caused an unscheduled stop and the passengers were suitably informed. It's understandable that the staff were a bit aggrieved - aside from the behaviour itself, it was preventing them from doing their jobs.

We're done here. People have their view on the content of the announcement used but there seems to be little productive to be achieved by continuing this tit for tat exchange.

It is honestly quite dispiriting that members seem to instantly assume bad faith of all actors be they new or old members, begin to berate each other and generally treat each other with such a lack of basic politeness.

There was no need for the conversation to develop the nasty tenor that it did and yet members appear to have been instantly drawn to making negative comments.

I will point members to the Forum Rules and implore them to read them and do their best to follow them. At the end of the day there's no reason for the tone of the conversation on any thread to be nasty and irritable and yet here we are.

I hope members may reflect and consider how they post going forward.
