Incident at New Barnet (12/08/2010)

I went to catch an FCC train into London this afternoon (around 2ish) to be met by a police cordon, two police cars and several officers standing around. Couldn't get into the station so had to jump on a 383 to Oakleigh Park where a Moorgate service was waiting but on the London-bound fast tracks.

Anyone know what happened? I couldn't see anything at New Barnet as the view was obscured by the bridge. It must've been serious.

Sounds like a jumper [my sincerest apologies if it's not] - the newswires aren't interested in anything like that if it's inside the M25 because it's so common. There are about 200 rail suicides a year in London, most to be fair occurr in the tube. The police only inform the families concerned.

Normal service has now resumed. Very sad..
