We are looking for motivated, reliable, punctual and self-disciplined individuals to join Northern as Trainee Train Drivers. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our outstanding year-long Training Programme, where you will be fully equipped with the knowledge and skills required to become a Train Driver for Northern.
To be successful you’ll need to have a willingness to learn, both during working hours and at home too, as it’s an intense course requiring 100% commitment from you. In return our Training Team will give you all of the support and encouragement you need to succeed at the ongoing assessments and knowledge checks.
Working as a Train Driver, your greatest strengths will be your concentration skills, your ability to work on your own for long periods of time, whilst being able to react and adapt to different situations using your knowledge of rules and regulations.
You’ll also be the face of Northern, so you’ll need to have excellent customer service skills and be able to think on your feet. Ultimately, it will be your responsibility to ensure that our customers reach their destination in a safe manner and on time. Even when things may not be running so smoothly, you will need to ensure our customers are kept informed throughout their journey and it is your excellent communication skills that will help us to make a difference.
