Recently I travelled via Manchester Oxford Road Station and as ever marvelled at the sheer number of trains passing through both freight and passenger. It must be one of the smallest busiest stations in the country,
Whilst waiting for my train I got to speak ti one of the most helpful and knowledgeable staff ever . He clearly knew exactly what was happening minutes by minute most impressed. He even got me into tracksys etc
He was also training new staff.
Excellent member if Northern trains

Always nice to read comments like this rather than people complaining and moaning about staff. Would be a nice idea as well to drop northern a email/ customer services department etc a message as well with your praise for the staff member.

There’s not much praise for railway front-line staff who often have to deal with difficult situations which are not their own doing.

If you send Northern an email with the time and date of the interaction and brief description of the guy hopefully they will pass it onto their line manager and I’m sure the employee will be thankful

Definitely. Do contact Northern, the staff concerned will appreciate it and I dare say the customer service team will too. It'll no doubt make a nice change for them to read an email that isn't full of abuse and people justifiably complaining about things that are obviously not the CX team's fault.

I've just had Ryanair lose my luggage on a domestic Ryanair flight in Italy. The airport I flew from was truly abysmal in every way. But the one I arrived at was exceptional. The staff seemed to genuinely care about my problem, not that I was the only one, took my full details including itinerary and seemed to actually want to find a solution.

Went back this morning to get my bag as I knew what flight it was on, got exactly the same reception and assistance landside. Really did as much as they could to assist with something that was entirely the fault of the departure airport. So I made sure to send the airport involved a nice email. Fair's fair as the departure airport and Ryanair will be getting emails too!
