I regret to inform any bus enthusiasts that Impera Bus and Coach who provide services in Wirral and Liverpool have ceased trading this evening. They ran some excellent must needed services to the area, mostly ran by well maintained Dennis Darts. Very sad for the company and their employees.

That's a real shame- there was an excellent article in this weeks Route One magazine about them as well

According to the Merseytravel website, routes 15, 16 and 47 were due to be withdrawn on 4th October. So, some work was going to go. Such a shame everything looks to have went.

Weird..... especially the fact that the article in Routeone was in the latest edition dated today and spoke positively for the future

It is very strange indeed. Management told the drivers that they ceased trading this evening, but they continued to provide services well into the night...

I have it from a source that there may still be hope for impera in a important meeting tomorrow morning to see what is happening. Fingers crossed...

Confirmation has come from the Merseytravel website;

Impera Buses, who ran bus services throughout the Wirral area and some cross-river buses to and from Liverpool, have ceased trading.

Impera ran the following services:

31, 31A, 39, 39C, 98, 107, 164, 165, 203, 207, 213, 608, 620, 621, 625, 628, 633, 635, 636, 637, 643, 662, 664, 703 and 711.

We are currently seeking replacement bus operators for all contracted services.

We'll keep this page updated throughout the day as we get further news.

For those interested, the article on Impera in Route One can be found here.

A great shame, as they were trying very hard to run a decent service.

A futher update, Merseytravel have stated that there will be no replacement for Impera's commercial services - namely the 31/31a, 39/39c and 98. They are however looking at a replacement for the evening and Sunday service on the 31a.

See above link for more details.

It's a shame that Avon or Helms didn't the work, but I think the small operators know that after Arriva and Stagecoach (ex First) took the big earning routes, the less profitable ones, which were cross-subsidised under Merseybus and Crosville, slowly get axed as companies won't break even on them.

That said, the PTE has some responsibility to ensure those routes stay afloat.
