You were being quite optimistic in your expectations to begin with, given that "Flying Scotsman" is currently in bits again at Bury, and there are no 9Fs currently registered for use on the main line.

You know what I mean . It's just whenever I hear the words steam locomotive, I instantly think of 4472 . I knew she had been in then works for a while too, so maybe they had come to run her in on a quiet Lincolnshire line?

Good point, I'd completely skimmed over the mention of the whistle. It must be an extension of EMTs' initiative to put a little nostalgia back into its' train services, following on from the installation of steam heating to Meridians suggested in another thread They're ever inventive, EMT, so it would seem...
