I think we've already run out of guesses. How can it be a DMU if all the reasonable candidates are gone? The remaining classes are all far too numberous, or too recent.

This one does not work at all because they are not in operation on our national network. 141.

• One of the smallest classes currently in operation
• Has a number of similarities to another much more numerous class (one of which is the bodyshell).
• Very widely travelled (probably more so than any other unit in operation).
• Of the 1980s classes suggested so far, it's not a 143, 144, 153 or 155
• It has an unusual livery

Built at some point between 1960 and 1990, this unit was known for one feature that was considered a liability, even though it was not unique. It was an indirect replacement for a class that by the time of this unit's introduction was over 40 years old, although at least one unit of that older class is still in existence. Upon a route upgrade undertaken some time ago, these units were withdrawn, although some vehicles are still around.
