I'm still seeing grey ATW 158's

why is this, are they newer ATW stock from elsewhere. Or have they decided to paint the rest when the refurbs are due soon?

I have hear it is because they have been fitted with ERTMS? if I spelt that correctly... They will be refurbished from the end of the year with finance from WAG

Nope there are Corporate Liveried ERTMS sets too.

the colour scheme has no bearing on whether ERTMS is fitted. For example 158824 (in atw house colours) is certainly ERTMS fitted, and there are a number of grey examples with ERTMS. The grey ones just haven't really had a repaint since wales and borders days, and tbh it's starting to show.

158 835 is still in silver/grey livery as I was on it on Thursday, the inside is not much better either, really needs new seats!

For a time frame, 158835 went in for ERTMs on 28 June.

158840 is the only ATW 158 not yet treated [may have gone in for mods in intervening period].
