Apparently a Power Car 'Burst' so 43095 swapped with it at Edinburgh Waverley, so as i say glad i wasn't doing heads-out, wouldn't particularly fancy a face full of boiling hot oil. How often does this happen? once in a blue moon? i hope [i've never seen it before anyway]

Seen it with a 1931 class in Portugal, luckily it was on IC stock which does not have any opening windows so nobody in danger of getting a faceful of oil.

Have also seen at least two 60s in a similar state though do not have pictures of them (or the 1931 for that matter) as all were seen at night, or were not in a position to be photographed.

I've seen it happen on an SNCF train to Toulouse. It was a diesel portion of a Corail train, and about 3 cars long.

Everything was going well when suddenly oil started spraying up on the windows, and the train came to a stop. Several guys went to look at the problem. It ended up with us having to walk along the track to the nearest station to catch a replacement bus! :grin:
