What would you do if you won the jackpot? what would you buy and would you tell anyone?

I would keep it quiet, buy a few miles of track, get it to preserved condition, get a few locos and make it the only preserved line with a regular diesel not steam.

with the rest id buy a few coffins (Air-Con Mk2`s) and some sleepers and make a rail hotel and restraunt :D

and id buy all my pals on RailUK a beer/ whatever they want

I'd put it somewhere safe for when I'm ready to invest it into a business - I would keep it very quiet until I invested.

Well, if it was a big win, I'd go to Bombardier and commission the first ever private train to be built from the Turbostar platform.

No, seriously. Listen.

A private train... a kind of miniature royal train, perhaps. Two carriages would be fine. The Turbostar has good route coverage, and is cheaper to operate that a locomotive and hauled stock. Have some bedrooms designed in one carriage, and then spacious daytime accommodation in the other. Paint it metallic silver, dark smoked glazing and no external markings. If I was to have it operated for me, then when I'm not using it to mooch around the country (probably mostly by night, when paths are easier to find) I'd lease it out to others with too much money...

If you had a private train and lived in it i guess if you payed heritage railways to let you spend the night parked on there line you could hop around the country driving on the national network and stopping on preserved lines...that would be pretty cool!!!

I would buy a class 442 wessex electric and remove the engine and most of the control conections, and have it permanantly on emergency vrake (I know but it will stop it being stolen), and a couple of sidings with an island to put it and my private train (which I would use for holidays) on then completely refurbish it into a house and live in it and the usual stuff. Then I would buy loads of cars and then do what the dragons on dragons den do and invest money into companies which I think have a good outcome to make some more cash.

Invest and get rich. Oh, and I'd buy a class 314 whenever they are ready to get chucked in the skip.

Stick it in the bank, use a bit to buy a couple of cars and use some to buy a few things I've always wanted/have been saving up for. Other than that, use it to boost my income.

(Yay for being relatively sensible )

Depending on the win but I would certainly have a holiday in Spain but I would also be damn careful with the money.

I've already earmarked several charities that will get a share. Once they're dealt with, I'd have fun for a while. Buy a nice Steinway piano, go on a First Class ALR, buy myself a nice little car, perhaps travel a bit over Summer. But after that I'd get sensible, put it all away safely and hold onto it for as long as possible. Use it to buy a house in the future and ensure future prosperity. I'm a right bore!

Of course, this is all irrelevant since I don't play the lotto and, if I did, there's probably no way in hell I'd ever win.

Actually he should work with the two week rover (14 x 26 = £16,900)

The week rover (7 x 52) would be £22,600 per year. ;)

Unless you want first class!

I would have enough money to expand my business - we are currently in need of about £30,000 and there are no business grants available in Dorset.

Also, I would donate the money needed to buy Midford Station - it has been offered to us at the New S&D but as yet we don't have the funds to do this. If we could get it, we would rebuild the wooden station building and use it as HQ for the northern end of the S&D.

I would be paralyzed with choice! I would buy the mansion in Toorak and a penthouse in the Eureka Tower along with the big black shiny Rolls-Royce Phantom.

I would found a trust in my honor and progressively give money away to community groups, individuals who cannot afford expensive medical treatment etc as well as a big donation to Scouts Australia as well as my Group and to my Crew.

I would have my own entourage, which would include a manage, personal assistant, photographer, fashionista, chauffeur etc.

I would probably have a huge wardrobe of all the expensive clothes I cannot afford, I also start to wear a cravat and be completely self indulged and have a huge bronze statue of myself.

One thing I that is my dream to do is to open a micro brewery in Frankston and brew the label 'Frankston Bitter' as well as a few other beers, I'd brew a label that a mate of mine would do called the 'Holy Furner' and I'd probably pay him to run the joint as I would have a too busy schedule lol.

I'd buy Inverkip power station, and then run a railway line beside the road running around it. Get a few trains (314, 322 maybe) and some buses and make income off that. Like an amusement park.

First I would put half in the bank for saving and keeping for future needs.

The Second half would be my "Wasting" half, first I would purchase every single Class 465 "Networker"take the hitachi enginering out and paint them into there original NSE livery,I would also purchase every EPB avalible to and paint them into old style NSE livery and buy quite a lot of track and turn the "Juice" on and have 4 MK3 carriages coupled together to make my home in "Inter-City" Livery.

The rest I would help preservationists and buy JustinStacey.X his own Class 314 and buy klambert a Class 50!.

If it's not a huge win, I'd invest it and live off the proceeds.

Given a huge win, I'd give a few million to the Bluebell to restore some of the locos and stock they've got lying around (including a gorgeous 12-wheeled LBSCR Directors' Saloon) and to extend to East Grinstead/Ardingly. I'd also donate some cash to other worthwhile railway heritage projects.

Oh yes, I'd buy one of the derelict Bulleid 'MNs' and re-air-smooth it too. Magic...

If it was an epic win, then half to the bank for interest accumulation, with the other half spent first on some all-liners to finish off the passenger service network in this country as well as raking in a ton of HST mileage, followed by a bit of a world tour. RA to Australia for the XPTs, then round to Japan, the USA, Europe, Africa and back home. All for the railways of course!

On my return to the UK, it would be a few days off before sorting out a car and a house, get all my bills forever cleared and do the same with my family. After that, no idea what I'd do with it.

Oh, and of course I'd be buying my own HST. Get it back to the way it ought to be and go on private excursions with invited guests or just bugger off for a weekend up to Scotland, Kent, Cornwall or something.

Obviously, I'd vote to never work another day in my lifetime!

Ok, if I won the lotto...

Buy a new laptop
Buy a flat in a nice part of London - since I'd be paying cash upfront I wouldn't have a mortgage to pay!
Buy a replica of David Prowse's Darth Vader costume
Buy an actual lightsaber (although it wouldn't cut through anything)
Buy a Harrier Jump Jet and take pilot's lessons so I could fly the damn thing
Buy an HST power car, install a Valenta engine and find somewhere to run it
Buy a 50 inch HD plasma telly
Buy an iPhone

Anything else...

A Harrier Jump Jet, just where do you buy those from? Aren't they like hundreds of millions of dollars to buy?

I'd own an Armored Personnel Carrier and convert it to a mobile panic room.
