If no tickets available, is it still a valid itinerary for Delay Repay?

Avanti seem to have blocked the sale of all tickets for this coming Sunday, even though they are running trains. How does this affect Delay Repay?

If I were to attempt to travel, e.g. using the return portion of an off-peak return, would I be able to claim Delay Repay if my train were delayed? Or could they deny compensation on the basis that journey planners are showing no valid itineraries?

What is your intended itinerary?

If you can generate it on www.fastjp.com and post a link here, as well as a text description, that would be extremely useful and help us to give the best possible answer.

They may have closed reservations but that doesn't mean you can't buy a ticket. You can still buy a ticket through methods that don't require you to search for an itinerary, e.g. ticket offices, "dumb" TVMs or certain online retailers (the GTR/SE sites if you 'favourite' a fare or repurchase it from your list of recent purchases).

How does this affect Delay Repay?
Not at all. Delay Repay is not dependent on having a reservation for the train you took. It is based on the timetable.

Yes.

Or could they deny compensation on the basis that journey planners are showing no valid itineraries?
No.

I am intending to travel from Birmingham New St to Euston. Not sure yet at what time.

So presumably not changing trains at all so the question of whether you've got a valid itinerary in terms of connections doesn't need asking. Yep, if your journey is delayed then claim away.

If you haven't got a planned itinerary you can now only claim against the timetable that is operating, not that which might have operated without the strike.
