Alot of people seem to think if the trams where to be enhanced they should go down Leith walk to Ocean Terminal, then hopeful around to Granton before returning to prince street via Craigleith and Ravelston Dykes.
I have some doubts, this would be the best route for any extension at this moment of time. Most of the route would mainly serve the Scottish office building, ( please insert jab here) while the eastern circular would mainly cover the no38 bus route, mind if would free up the service to operate to Silverknowes instead.
I think if the tram was to be extended, a minor extension down Leith walk and no further, would be the best idea.
Route two: Should use "Edinburgh Suburban and South Side" which would take most of the work away from the streets while connecting alot of Edinburgh together. The route would require it to comes off the main train line to via Cameron toll and Kings building of Edinburgh Uni, before rejoining back up with the train line. A bridge over the A7 would be the best idea.
Cost, the thinking building this is, if the council wins its law suit against the contractors, it would free up the cash to be spend on improvements instead of debt. The council need to start thinking about improvements and how to best archive this dream.
